Bake A Cake Effective date: 10/9/2026
This policy explains what information we collect when you visit bakeacaketx.com or buy from us, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you place an order, book a class, create an account, request a quote, or contact us, we collect what you enter: your name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping address, order details, class attendees' names, and any messages you send. If you order edible images or custom items, we collect the artwork or photos you upload.
Payment information. Card payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number goes directly to Stripe and is never stored on our servers. We receive only a confirmation, the last four digits, and the card type. Stripe's handling of your data is described in its own privacy policy.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we record basic technical details when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and the site you came from. We use cookies to keep your cart and sign-in working and to understand how the site is used. See section 6 for cookie choices.
2. How we use information
We use your information to:
- process and deliver orders, and seat you in classes you've booked;
- send order confirmations, shipping updates, class reminders, and receipts;
- answer questions and provide customer support;
- print edible images and custom items you've ordered;
- send marketing emails about products, classes, and promotions, if you've opted in (you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email);
- keep the site secure, prevent fraud, and meet legal and tax obligations;
- improve our products, classes, and website.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Who we share information with
We share information only as needed to run the business:
- Payment processing: Stripe, to charge your card.
- Shipping: carriers such as USPS, UPS, and FedEx, who receive your name, address, and phone number to deliver your order.
- Website platform: Pure Vista, which hosts this store and stores order and account data on our behalf.
- Email: the service we use to send order emails and, if you've opted in, our newsletter.
- Legal: when required by law, or to protect our rights, customers, or the public.
These providers may only use your information to provide their service to us.
4. Your choices and rights
- Account: you can review and update your details any time under My Account.
- Marketing: unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email, or contact us.
- Access, correction, deletion: you can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Use the "Your Privacy Choices" link in the site footer or contact us at [email]. We'll respond within 45 days. We may keep records we're required to retain (for example, order and tax records).
- Cookies: see section 6.
5. How long we keep information
We keep order, class, and account records for as long as you have an account with us and as needed for tax, accounting, warranty, and dispute purposes (generally up to 7 years). Uploaded artwork for edible images and custom items is kept for [90 days] after the order so we can reprint if needed, then deleted. Marketing preferences are kept until you unsubscribe.
6. Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work (cart, sign-in, security) and, where you accept them, cookies that help us understand site usage. You can decline non-essential cookies in the cookie notice, and you can clear or block cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though you may need to sign in again.
7. Children
Our products and website are intended for adults. Classes for younger bakers are booked by a parent or guardian, and we collect the booking adult's information, not the child's. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 online. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us, and we'll delete it.
8. Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted storage of sensitive settings, and limited staff access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Texas and other U.S. residents
If you are a Texas resident, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act may give you rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of your personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising or the sale of personal data. We do not sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising. To exercise your rights or appeal a decision, contact us at [email]. Residents of other states with privacy laws may have similar rights; the same contact works.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows the latest version. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we'll post a notice on the site or email you.
